What began as the subject of a high school photography project has grown into a years-long theme of photographing reflections. It no longer surprises my friends to find I have stopped walking beside them and am angling my phone camera towards an especially promising puddle or window. These images turn recognizable places and objects into painterly, or even ominous, distortions of our usual perspectives. I also appreciate the connection between reflections as subject matter and as a technical component of photographic processes, from the camera obscura to the SLR.
